The Chemical Engineering Program's mission in the Dept. of Physics & Engineering is to offer an outstanding undergraduate program in a professional community that educates, nurtures and prepares motivated students to assume creative technical, managerial, and leadership roles in chemical industries and related fields. In addition, to pursuing excellence in teaching, our mission is to embody and instill in the students the core values of our founders, the Basilian Fathers, goodness, discipline, knowledge, and community.

A few years after graduation, graduates of the Chemical Engineering program demonstrate:

  1. Professional competence through the knowledge of thermodynamics, transport phenomena, kinetics and reactor design, process control, economic and plant design and will sustain the intellectual curiosity characteristic of a life-long learner, continuously contribute to the global body of knowledge in the field of Chemical Engineering especially, but not limited applications in food, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biomedical, renewable and non-renewable energy and the environment industries, through scholarly work, inventions and other forms of innovation.   
  2. Their leadership, aptitude, and skills in the field of Chemical Engineering, as manifested in their ability to communicate thoughts and ideas through written, oral, or visual means.  
  3. A sense of social responsibility, good ethical behavior and professional commitment through involvement in diverse community engagement activities and active membership in professional organizations in the field of Chemical Engineering.

Degree Plan

Engineering Physics is a relatively new field in engineering. If you have a strong interest in both engineering and physics, this program prepares you to design, develop and apply new solutions in engineering, from research and development to education, medicine, law and business. The program culminates with Capstone Engineering Design classes in the 4th year, where you’ll work in a small group on one project from idea to design to realization.
