The Bachelor of Science: Engineering Physics prepares students to solve challenges in Engineering with Applied Physics and vice versa. The program is ideal for students who have an interest in both fields and seek employment in engineering disciplines that require a deeper knowledge of physical principles, such as aerospace, nanotechnology, computing and nuclear science or those students who intend to pursue a graduate degree in Engineering.

The Bachelor of Science: Engineering Physics program provides students with a solid foundation in physics, mathematics, problem solving and engineering design skills. You’ll enjoy an array of opportunities – from traditional classroom and laboratory settings, to hands-on research and design experiences.

The BS Engineering Physics Program provides undergraduate Engineering Physics (EP) majors an integrated science and engineering education, ensuring our students gain a comprehensive understanding of how to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges effectively in professional and academic contexts. Through personalized mentoring, hands-on instrumentation experience, and analytical methods, we provide an environment for students to achieve personal and professional goals. The Department of Physics and Engineering, in line with the University's mission, fosters a learner-centered atmosphere with small classes, enabling faculty to attend to each student's personal and academic growth. Our rigorous curriculum ensures student success at UST and prepares them for future academic pursuits and employment. The faculty in Physics and Engineering at UST fully embraces the ethos, culture, and spirit of the university, emphasizing critical thinking, competence, effective communication, and ethical leadership.

A few years after graduation, graduates of the Engineering Physics program demonstrate:

  1. Professional competence in the fields of Engineering & Physics and contributes to the global body of knowledge of both fields through graduate studies, research and development, applications and applied physics, inventions, and other forms of innovation.  
  2. Their leadership, aptitude, and skills in the fields of Engineering and Physics, as manifested in their ability to communicate thoughts and ideas through written, oral, or visual means.  
  3. A sense of social responsibility, ethical behavior and professional commitment through involvement in diverse community engagement activities and active membership in professional organizations in the fields of Engineering and/or Physics.

Where Can Studying engineering Take Me?

Engineering Physics is a relatively new field in engineering. If you have a strong interest in both engineering and physics, this program prepares you to design, develop and apply new solutions in engineering, from research and development to education, medicine, law and business. The program culminates with Capstone Engineering Design classes in the 4th year, where you’ll work in a small group on one project from idea to design to realization.
